Shrimp Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground shrimp

1/4 cup chopped scallions

1/4 cup chopped bamboo shoots

1 tbsp. soy sauce

1 tbsp. cornstarch

1 tbsp. sesame oil

1 tbsp. rice vinegar

1 tbsp. sugar

1/4 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. white pepper

20-30 wonton wrappers

Instructions:

In a large bowl, mix together the ground shrimp, chopped scallions, and chopped bamboo shoots.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and white pepper.

Add the soy sauce mixture to the shrimp mixture and mix well.

Place a heaping teaspoon of the shrimp mixture in the center of a wonton wrapper.

Wet the edges of the wrapper with water and fold it in half, forming a triangle.

Pinch the edges together to lock the dumpling completely.

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Place the dumplings in a bamboo steamer basket lined with parchment paper.

Steam the dumplings for 5-6 minutes, or until the shrimp is cooked through.

Serve the dumplings hot with soy sauce, chili sauce, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips:

Make sure the shrimp is deveined and peeled before grinding.

You can substitute other types of ground meat for the shrimp, such as pork or chicken.

If you don't have a bamboo steamer basket, you can use a metal steamer or a steaming rack placed over a pot of boiling water.

You can make the dumplings ahead of time and freeze them for later use. To do this, place the dumplings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze until solid. Then transfer the dumplings to a freezer-safe container and store in the freezer for up to 3 months. When ready to cook, steam the frozen dumplings for an extra minute or two.

Conclusion:

Shrimp dumplings are a classic dim sum dish that is easy to make at home. With just a few simple ingredients and a bamboo steamer basket, you can enjoy these delicious dumplings in the comfort of your own kitchen. Serve them as an appetizer or a main dish, and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce.
