naan recipe-How did you make this
Naan is a type of bread that is popular in many parts of South and Central Asia, especially in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Iran. It is usually served with curries, kebabs, or other spicy dishes. Naan can be made in many different ways, but here is a simple recipe that yields delicious, fluffy, and soft naan.
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp instant yeast
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1/2 cup warm milk
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup warm water
2 tbsp melted butter
2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander (optional)
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, yogurt, egg, and vegetable oil.
Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and then mix well. Gradually add the warm water, a little at a time, until the dough comes together and is smooth and elastic.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead it for 5-10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and stretchy.
Place the dough in a clean, oiled bowl and cover it with a clean towel or plastic wrap. Keep it in a warm place for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in size.
Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to preheat as well.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 8-10 equal-sized balls. Roll out each ball into an oval shape that is about 1/4 inch (6 mm) thick.
Brush each naan with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped fresh coriander, if desired.
Place the naan on a baking sheet or pizza peel that has been dusted with cornmeal or flour. If you're using a pizza stone, slide the naan onto the hot stone using a pizza peel.
Bake the naan for 2-3 minutes, until it puffs up and turns golden brown. Remove it from the oven and brush it with more melted butter. Serve hot.
Tips:
If you don't have instant yeast, you can use active dry yeast instead. Just dissolve it in the warm milk before adding it to the dough.
You can also add other herbs and spices to the dough, such as garlic powder, cumin, or nigella seeds.
To make garlic naan, mix 2-3 cloves of minced garlic with the melted butter and brush it onto the naan before baking.
If you don't have an oven, you can also cook naan on a hot griddle or tawa. Just heat the griddle over medium-high heat and cook the naan for 1-2 minutes on each side, until it is cooked through and slightly charred.
Naan can be stored in an airtight container or plastic bag for up to 2 days. To reheat it, wrap it in foil and place it in a preheated 350°F (175°C) oven for 5-10 minutes, until it is heated through.
