momos recipe-How did you make this

Momos are a type of steamed dumpling that originated in Tibet and are now popular in many parts of South Asia. They are made with a filling of meat or vegetables, wrapped in dough, and steamed. Momos are a delicious and satisfying snack or meal that can be enjoyed any time of day. (Here is a recipe to make momos at home.

Ingredients:

For the filling:

  • 1 lb ground meat (chicken or lamb)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

For the dough:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, onion, garlic, ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well with your hands and set aside.

In separate bowls, mix flour or salt and keep. Gradually add warm water to the flour mixture, stirring until it forms a dough. Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Divide the dough into small balls, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

On a floured surface, roll out each ball into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter.

Place a spoonful of filling in the center of the circle.

Pinch the edges of the circles together then seal them to fill inside.  Pinch the top of the dumpling to close it.  Repeat with remaining dough and filling

Place the momos in a steamer basket and steam for 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is cooked through.

Serve hot with dipping sauce of your choice.

Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

Instructions:

In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, and green onion.

Serve the dipping sauce with the momos.

Tips:

Make sure to knead the dough thoroughly to ensure that it becomes smooth and elastic. This will make it easier to roll out and pleat the momos.

You can substitute the ground meat with finely chopped vegetables, such as cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms, to make vegetarian momos.

Experiment with different dipping sauces to find your favorite flavor.

If you don't have a steamer basket, you can steam the momos in a colander lined with a cheesecloth or a bamboo steamer.

Momos can also be pan-fried or deep-fried for a crispy texture.
