 Matar Paneer is a popular North Indian dish made with green peas and paneer (cottage cheese) cooked in a rich and creamy tomato-based gravy. Ingredients:


250 grams of paneer, cut into cubes

1 cup of haraa peas (fresh or frozen)

3 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped

1 large onion, chopped

1 green chilli, chopped

1 inch of ginger, chopped

4-5 cloves of garlic, chopped

2-3 tablespoons of oil or ghee

1 teaspoon of cumin seeds

1 teaspoon of coriander powder

1/2 teaspoon of red chilli powder

1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder

Salt to taste

Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions:


(Heat 2 tbsp sweet oil or ghee in a pan on low heat.  Add paneer cubes and keep frying till it turns golden.  Then remove the paneer from the pan and keep aside.


In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of oil or ghee. Add the cumin seeds aur let tak splutter.


Add finely chopped onion and fry it till it turns golden.


Add the chopped green chilli, ginger, and garlic, and sauté them for a minute.


Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté them until they turn mushy.


Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt as per taste. Mix well and cook for a few minutes until the oil separates from the masala.


Add green peas and 1 cup water. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes until the peas are cooked.


Add the fried paneer cubes and garam masala powder. Mix well aur cook for 2-2-3 minutes.


Add more water if the gravy is too thick, or cook for a few more minutes if the gravy is too thin.


Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or any Indian bread of your choice.


Tips:


To make the paneer more flavorful, you can marinate it in a mixture of yogurt, ginger, garlic, and spices for a few hours before frying it.

You can also add cream or milk to the gravy to make it more creamy and rich.

If you don't have fresh tomatoes, you can use canned tomatoes or tomato puree instead.

Adjust the amount of chilli powder and green chillies according to your taste.

You can also add other vegetables like carrots, potatoes, or bell peppers to the dish for more flavor and nutrition.
