jeera rice recipe-How did you make this
Jeera rice, also known as cumin rice, is a popular North Indian dish made with basmati rice and cumin seeds. It is a simple and flavorful dish that pairs well with a variety of Indian curries and gravies. Here is a recipe for jeera rice:
Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
2 tablespoons ghee or oil
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2-3 green cardamom pods
2-3 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 bay leaf
Salt to taste
2 cups water
Chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
Keep washing the rice in clean water till all the water comes out clean. Soak that rice in water for about 30 minutes.
In a pot, heat ghee or oil over medium heat. After that add cumin seeds and fry them for some time.
Add green cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon stick, and bay leaf. Sauté for a minute until fragrant.
Drain the water from the soaked rice and add the rice to the pot. Stir the rice to coat it with the spices and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Add salt to taste and 2 cups of water. Bring that rice to a boil by stirring it slowly.
Once the water comes to a boil, lower the heat to low and cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid.
Cook the rice for 15-20 minutes or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked through.
Now turn off the flame and leave the rice for about 5-6 minutes.
Now beat the rice with a fork or spatula and now garnish it with finely chopped coriander.
Jeera rice is ready to serve! It can be enjoyed on its own or with any Indian curry or gravy of your choice.
