 Chilli Paneer is a popular Indo-Chinese dish that is loved by many. It is a vegetarian dish that is made with paneer, which is Indian cottage cheese, and a spicy sauce made with chili peppers. Here is a simple recipe to make Chilli Paneer at home.


Ingredients:


For the paneer marinade:


250 grams paneer, cut into cubes

2 tablespoons cornflour

1 teaspoon red chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon soy sauce

1 teaspoon vinegar

1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste

For the sauce:


2 tablespoons oil

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

1 tablespoon chopped ginger

1 onion, sliced

1 capsicum, sliced

2-3 green chilies, slit

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon chili sauce

1 tablespoon tomato sauce

1 teaspoon vinegar

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon sugar

1 tbsp cornflour mixed in 1/4 cup water

Spring onions, for garnish

Instructions:


In a bowl, mix cornflour, red chili powder, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and ginger garlic paste. Add the paneer cubes to the mixture and coat them well. Set aside for 10-15 minutes.


Heat oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the paneer cubes and fry them until golden brown. Remove the paneer cubes from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.


In the same pan, add chopped garlic and ginger and sauté for a few seconds. Add sliced onions, capsicum, and slit green chilies, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they become slightly soft.


In a separate bowl, mix soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato sauce, vinegar, salt, and sugar with 1/4 cup water.


Add this sauce mixture to the pan and stir well. Let the sauce cook for a few minutes until it starts to thicken.


Put the fried paneer cubes in it in the pan and mix well with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the paneer cubes are well-coated with the sauce.


In a small bowl, mix cornflour with 1/4 cup water to make a slurry. Add this slurry to the pan and stir well. Let the sauce cook for another 2-3 minutes until it thickens and becomes glossy.


Turn off the heat and garnish with chopped spring onions.


Serve hot with fried rice or noodles.


Tips:


You can use any type of chili sauce for this recipe, such as Sriracha or Sambal Oelek.

You can also add other vegetables to the dish, such as mushrooms, broccoli, or baby corn.

To make the dish spicier, add more green chilies or red chili powder to the sauce.

Make sure to fry the paneer cubes until they are golden brown and crispy, as this will add texture to the dish.

Use a non-stick pan or a well-seasoned wok for best results.

You can also use tofu instead of paneer for a vegan version of the dish.
